This one-day event will feature a slate of distinguished speakers from academia, industry and government, to discuss current challenges and future opportunities in cybersecurity.
Kevin Haley
Symantec
Kevin Haley is a Director for Security Response at Norton by Symantec, where he is responsible for ensuring the security content gathered from Symantec’s Global Intelligence Network is actionable for its customers. He is the technical advisor and main spokesperson for Symantec Internet Security Threat Report. He served as a technical advisor for Anthony E. Zuiker’s digital crime thriller, “Cybergeddon” and appeared in the documentary “Most Dangerous Town”. He also frequently appears as a security expert for media including The Today Show, NBC Nightly News, Good Morning America, MSNBC, USA Today, New York Times, Forbes, Dow Jones and many others. During his sixteen years at Symantec, Haley has also acted as the Group Product Manager for Symantec Endpoint Protection and our mail security products.
Ulf Lindqvist
SRI International
Ulf Lindqvist, Ph.D., is a program director in the Computer Science Laboratory at SRI International. He manages research and development programs regarding infrastructure security for government and commercial clients. His areas of expertise include cyber security, infrastructure systems, intrusion detection in computer systems, and security for systems that interact with the physical world.
Dr. Lindqvist leads SRI’s support for the Cyber Security Division at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate. He also leads SRI’s strategic initiative for Ensuring the Privacy and Security of the Internet of Things (IoT). In 2015, he was named vice chair of the IEEE Cybersecurity Initiative. He is also the 2016-2017 chair of the IEEE Computer Society’s Technical Committee on Security and Privacy. Previously, he served three years on the Executive Committee of the Institute for Information Infrastructure Protection, a consortium of leading national cyber security institutions, including academic research centers, government laboratories, and nonprofit organizations.
Dr. Lindqvist holds a Ph.D. in computer engineering and a M.S. degree in computer science and engineering, both from Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden. He was named an SRI Fellow in 2016.
Songwu Lu
UCLA
Songwu Lu is currently a professor of Computer Science at UCLA. His research interests include wireless networking, mobile systems, network security, and Internet cloud systems. His current research focuses on designing new network and security architecture for 5G and B5G technologies, as well as new software tools and software-defined radio platforms to explore the current 4G LTE systems and enable new architectures.
Chenxi Wang
Jane Bond Project
Dr. Chenxi Wang is the co-founder of the Jane Bond Project, and a partner at IT Security Planet. Previously, Chenxi served as the Chief Strategy Officer at Twistlock, a cyber security startup in the Silicon Valley. Chenxi was responsible for corporate strategy, thought leadership, and marketing. Chenxi is the 2016 & 2017 program co-chair for Security & Privacy at the Grace Hopper Conference. She was named by SC Magazine a 2016 Woman of Influence. Chenxi built an illustrious career at Forrester Research, Intel Security, and CipherCloud. At Forrester, Chenxi covered mobile, cloud, and enterprise security, and wrote many hard hitting research papers. At Intel Security, she led the ubiquity strategy that spans both hardware and software platforms. Chenxi started her career as a faculty member of Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Chenxi is a sought-after public speaker and a trusted advisor for IT executives. She has been quoted/featured by New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Forbes.com, Fox Business News, Bloomberg, Dark Reading, and many other media outlets. Chenxi holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from University of Virginia.
Jeff Towle
Intel Corporation
Jeff Towle is a 15-year cybersecurity industry veteran. He has expert level experience in Information Security, Governance, Risk and Compliance industries. His background spans from knowledge management systems, to cybersecurity reference architectures. He has extensive experience managing teams that assess and operationalize cyber security controls infrastructures. He specializes in optimizing security design and reference architectures to contend with modern-day threat vectors.
At Intel, Jeff manages a global team of security architects. He leads Intel’s silicon-based security capabilities in ISG as they intersect with recent investments in Big Data (Cloudera), FPGA technology (Altera), Artificial Intelligence (Nervana) and Memory Based Behavioral Pattern Recognition (Saffron). The volume and velocity of data flows with IoT, Cloud, mobility and virtualization require new approaches to understand risk. By leveraging big data, machine learning and artificial intelligence, it is now possible to scale cyber risk mitigation in a timely and efficient manner. He holds a BA in Music Performance from Hamline University, Saint Paul, Minnesota.
